Egyptian Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan has discussed with Director-General of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Gilbert Houngbo his ministry’s work priorities with the ILO in the coming stage, ways to provide technical support to those priorities, as well as identifying some visions for proposed projects and the timeline for their implementation.
This came during their meeting on the sidelines of the 110th edition of the International Labor Conference, held in Geneva with the participation of some 5,000 government, worker and employer delegates from the ILO's 187 member states. The two sides probed ensuring that conditions for decent work are met and improved, while providing assistance, as well as technical and material support in the fields of work and employment. During the meeting, the minister congratulated Houngbo on assuming the post of ILO director general noting that it is something good for the African continent. Saafan reviewed the achievements made in labor and trade union laws in Egypt since 2016. He also pointed out to some projects being carried out by the ILO and the Ministry of Manpower, most notably “Strengthening Labor Relations and its Institutions in Egypt” project and the Decent Work Country Program. |
