Director of the Industrial Modernisation Centre (IMC) Mohamed Abdel Karim said the Egyptian State is committed to a strategic approach for transitioning to a green economy.
This green transition approach will play a major role in the national economy, given its diversified products, and local as well as foreign markets' demand for these products, Abdel Karim added while participating in a dialogue session bringing together representatives of 45 startups to discuss the marketing and finance challenges they face. He said the Ministry of Trade and Industry provides investors with constant support by setting up industrial complexes supplied with necessary utilities, some of which have recently been announced by the Trade and Industry Minister Nivine Gamea. During his participation in the green economy conference and exhibition, hosted by the Upper Egyptian governorate of Luxor on July 28-29, Abdel Karim put forward an IMC capacity-building initiative for startups, which would involve organizing training courses on online marketing techniques and how to prepare economic feasibility studies. The conference was organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) as part of its project "Inclusive Green Growth in Egypt" to support the green and circular economy in Luxor and Qena in Upper Egypt. Funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) the project is carried out in cooperation with the trade ministry during the 2020-2024 period. As many as 40 green companies have participated in the event. |
