Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli chaired a meeting on Wednesday to follow the progress of the projects under way in the New Administrative Capital, including government buildings, construction work, digitization of government documents, as well as utilities, infrastructure networks.
Minister of Communication and Information Technology Amr Talaat, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar, the director of the Armed Forces' Signal Department, and a representative of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority (AFEA) attended the meeting, along with a host of senior officials from the state authorities concerned. Reviewing a report on the workflow of some projects, First Assistant to the Prime Minister Randa Al Minshawi said as many as 33 ministries in the government district are now partially operational, while 866 meeting rooms were handed over after they had been equipped with necessary supplies. As for the new capital's digital infrastructure, Minshawy said as many as 766 applications, out of 975, had been selected for 49 ministries and government bodies after due examination processes; while 138 public servants at 45 entities had been trained on testing these applications after installing them at their respective bodies. In addition, employees at 31 bodies have also been trained on the government digital archiving system, added the premier's first assistant. Meanwhile, the director of the Armed Forces' Signal Department briefed the prime minister on the implementation status of the new capital's telecommunications networks, including the measures taken to connect the government district buildings with a communication and data center, audio-visual and simultaneous interpretation systems at the ministries' meeting chambers. The meeting also took up the progress made in various projects undertaken by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, including a number of housing districts, the People's square, the memorial, the City of Knowledge, the new capital's hospital, Egypt International City for Olympic Games, and road projects. |
