The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade said that Egypt’s strategic stock of basic commodities is safe and sufficient for several months.
An annual report by the ministry said the strategic stock of wheat is sufficient for 4.8 months. The report mentioned that the strategic stock of cooking oil is sufficient for 4.9 months, while the strategic stock of rice is sufficient for 5.9 months. The rice commodity achieved self-sufficiency by 100% in 2022, according to it. In addition, the strategic stock of sugar is sufficient for three months, the report said, adding the sugar harvest season will start in mid-January. |
