Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has announced South Korea's Samsung Electronics company will establish a mobile phone factory in Beni Suef governorate on an area of 6,000 square meters.
Talaat's announcement came following his meeting with Chairman of Samsung-Egypt Jun Su Jung and his accompanying delegation, according to a statement released by the Communications Ministry. The meeting was attended by CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Ahmed El Zaher and Assistant Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Strategy and Implementation Sherine El Gendy. The minister said Egypt has become a favorable business destination for several major electronics' manufacturers to serve the local market and export to regional markets, thanks to the efforts exerted by the State to stimulate investment in the electronics industry and localize this important industry, the statement added. Talaat stated the State is keen on offering incentives to electronics' makers and providing highly-skilled workers in specializations supporting the electronics industry. The new factory is expected to secure 1,400 direct and indirect job opportunities for Egyptian workers, especially in Upper Egypt. |
