Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhy laid the foundation stone of state's second strategic warehouse in the Upper Egypt governorate of Luxor, with total investments of some EGP 1.5 billion.
Erected on an area of 10 feddans, under directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to secure the strategic reserve of basic commodities and food products throughout the year, the storehouse is designed to serve Luxor and four more neighboring governorates, Moselhy said. The minister was accompanied by Luxor Governor Mostafa Alham and Assistant Supply Minister and Head of the Internal Trade Development Authority Ibrahim Ashmawy. The warehouses are key pillars of the internal trade and food security systems that seek securing people's needs of ready-to-use commodities. The establishment of the state's second strategic warehouse is due to be finalized within a period of 18-24 months, Ashmawy said, noting that the foundation stone had been laid to set up state's first strategic warehouse in Suez governorates. The state is planning to establish seven strategic warehouses successively, Ashmawy added. |
