Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El Said will take part in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Summit 2023, which is slated for September 17-19 in New York, the US.
Minister El Said's busy schedule at the summit entails participation in a session on the UN High Impact Initiative on Localization (Local 2030) September 2023, which is spearheaded by a consortium of the UN agencies, especially the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Program. Egypt contributes to the localization initiative through the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in light of state's ongoing efforts to localize the SDGs nationwide. Minister El Said will participate as a keynote speaker in an event set to be held on the sidelines of the summit under the rubric "Financing Localization or Localizing Finance", which is co-organized by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), UNDP, United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN Habitat) and consortium of Local 2030. Set for September 17, the Financing Localization event seeks to highlight Egypt's efforts towards localization of the sustainable development as well as the country's experience in preparing the Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs) of SDG implementation. Besides attending and addressing a number of key events and session, the minister is set to hold a set of one-on-one meetings with notable global economic leaders on the fringe of the summit in order to review Egypt's agenda for attracting direct foreign investments. |
