Egypt and China are bound by strategic ties that form a foundation for bolstering economic, trade, and investment cooperation, Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir said.
Samir made the remarks while participating in a ceremony celebrating the 74th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, in the presence of Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Liao Liqiang, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal, and the ministers of tourism, and public business sector. Asserting Cairo's commitment to furthering joint cooperation with China, a global strategic trade partner to Egypt, with around $16 billion volume of bilateral trade last year, Samir said Egypt's accession to the BRICS bloc as of January will contribute to greater trade exchange and joint investments between Egypt and members of the grouping the world's leading emerging economies. This move will also unlock untapped opportunities for cooperation with BRICS members by adopting non-conventional economic and trade cooperation policies that serve development plans of each member state and help in attaining their peoples' aspirations to progress and prosperity, the minister noted. |
