Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired the meeting of the National Population Council.
He stressed that the population is one of the most important issues that have a high priority on the agenda of the Egyptian state, especially in light of the pressures imposed by the population increase on the state's resources, which are limited, especially water. The Prime Minister directed the holding of discussion sessions involving ministries, stakeholders and various community parties, to raise awareness regarding the population issue. The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Cabinet advisor Sameh El-Kheshen stated that the meeting of the National Population Council discussed the most important challenges and opportunities facing the population file, in addition to reviewing ways of coordination between the concerned authorities and agencies in the state to deal with the challenges of population growth, in an approach that ensures the control of population growth. During the meeting, the Minister of Health discussed the recommendations issued by the meetings of the first edition of the World Conference on Population, Health and Development, which was held recently under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah ElSisi, President of the Republic, referring in this regard to the efforts made by the various stakeholders to implement those recommendations. For her part, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development pointed to the importance of investing in the characteristics of the population nationwide, reviewing the efforts exerted and the plan that is being implemented within the framework of the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family, which was launched under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah ElSisi, President of the Republic. The meeting also witnessed interventions from a number of ministers on the efforts of their ministries in this file. The Minister of Awqaf stressed the role of the ministry in correcting concepts according to the true religion, which all call for intervention to find solutions to the population issue. The Minister of Education indicated that the population issue should be included in the educational curricula to raise awareness of young people, while the Minister of Local Development reviewed the ministry's efforts to accelerate the local response to the population issue. The Minister of Youth and Sports also presented the role of the ministry in raising awareness and educating young people on this important file. |
