Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir on Monday asserted the necessity of boosting co-operation among African countries alongside finding unconventional ways to enhance their local economies, in order to overcome challenges facing them through regional partnerships.
Speaking at the third Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2023) in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, minister Samir hailed the president’s attendance at the conference which is hosted by Egypt for the second time. He thanked the African Export–Import Bank, African Union Commission and African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) for organizing the event in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry. While the African countries were still reeling from the repercussions of the coronavirus, the Russian-Ukrainian crisis erupted with its ramifications on Egypt as well as other African countries, Samir said. The unfolding political events in the region have negatively impacted region’s economies, Samir said, noting that such a matter necessitates boosting cooperation among partners and opting for unconventional solutions, with a view to pushing forward African domestic economies and overcoming current challenges. |
