"Al-Mashat" addressed joint efforts to enhance economic development with her Jordanian counterpart”
“Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation discusses cooperation opportunities with MasterCard International to support digital transformation and entrepreneurship” "Al-Mashat" meets with the Mauritanian Minister of Petroleum, the President of the Women Political Leaders Foundation WPL, the Director of the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), and the Vice President of the African Development Bank (AFDB)” H.E. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, continued her meetings with representatives of governments, the private sector, and international institutions, during her participation in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and the “Summit of the Future” in New York. Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation. The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, met with Ms. Zeina Toukan the Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation. They discussed joint relations and strengthening cooperation between the two sides to advance joint development efforts, within the framework of the close Egyptian-Jordanian relations. H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat emphasized the importance of the joint relations between the two countries and the common files between the two sides, especially in light of the two countries’ keenness to move forward to strengthen aspects of partnership, especially at the economic, investment and commercial levels, through a number of mechanisms, most notably the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee, which held its thirty-second session last May. H.E. highlighted the Ministry's efforts to govern and increase the efficiency of public spending, and to increase private sector engagement. The minister highlighted the new framework for promoting sustainable economic growth, which is based on three fundamental pillars: reliance on evidence- and data-based policies to identify and address development gaps across sectors; enhancing macroeconomic stability; and implementing structural reforms to increase competitiveness and improve the business environment. Mauritanian Minister of Petroleum The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, met with Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani,the Mauritanian Minister of Oil and Energy. The meeting addressed the priorities of the new government to build a competitive economy that attracts investments, improve the business environment to attract domestic and foreign investments, and stimulate the transition to a green economy. The two sides also discussed coordination at the level of international institutions to advance development efforts in the African continent within the framework of efforts to restructure the global financial system. MasterCard Company In another context, H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat met with Mr. Nicola Villa, Executive Vice President of MasterCard, where the two sides explore avenues for potential areas of cooperation in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation, in light of the government's efforts to enhance digital transformation, build a competitive economy, and promote resilient and sustainable economic growth. The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation pointed out the importance of digital transformation as one of the key factors that the Ministry promotes in order to develop the Egyptian planning system and keep pace with economic and technological developments, to support the effectiveness of the implemented projects. H.E. also reviewed the Government's priorities for attracting and encouraging domestic and external investments and encouraging private sector growth, in the context of improving the overall financial and economic performance of the State, in order to achieve the aspirations of the Egyptian people for development and progress. H.E. further emphasized the government's keenness to promote the start-up and entrepreneurship sector to consolidate the position of the Egyptian market as one of the attractive markets for venture capital investments. Therefore, the Ministerial Group for Entrepreneurship was formed, headed by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, with the aim of enhancing the capacity of start-up companies and the entrepreneurial environment to achieve sustainable and accelerated economic growth based on competitiveness and knowledge and contributing to the creation of decent job opportunities. Women Political Leaders Foundation WPL The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation met with Ms. Silvana Koch-Mehrin, CEO of the Women Political Leaders (WPL) Foundation, which is a global network of many influential women with the aim of supporting women’s empowerment and increasing their influence in leadership positions. The two sides also discussed joint cooperation opportunities within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation with development partners to advance women’s empowerment and increase their contribution to development efforts, in order to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth. The meeting addressed the role played by the Foundation in providing a platform for sharing best practices and policies on implementing an effective strategy for women’s empowerment, as well as building on the momentum generated by Egypt’s hosting of the COP27 climate conference, and enhancing its contributions to supporting international development and women’s empowerment. Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative OPHI H.E. Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation also discussed with Ms. Sabina Alkire, Director of the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), ways to enhance joint cooperation. The meeting witnessed a review of the most important priorities of the Egyptian state, which are building the human being and supporting human development efforts, through the economic and social development plan. The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation also indicated that the government recently launched the presidential initiative "New Beginning for Human Development", aiming to invest in human capital through a work program targeting human development and working to consolidate the Egyptian identity by enhancing efforts, coordination and integration between all state agencies. African Development Bank (AFD) H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat also met with Mr. Kevin Oramah, Vice President of the African Development Bank Group for Economic Governance and Knowledge Management, where the two sides discussed efforts to advance joint cooperation between Egypt and the Bank, and the vital role played by the Bank in advancing development in the African continent and implementing Agenda 2063. The meeting also touched on the portfolio of ongoing partnerships with Egypt, with the aim of supporting development efforts and empowering the private sector. |
