Mohieldin, Sharjah to Discuss Economic Cooperation

Mahmoud Mohieldin, the Minister of Investment, met with Ali Bin Salem Al-Mahmoud, member of the Sharjah Executive Council and Director General of Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD). The meeting also included the team responsible for supporting and developing SMEs. Also in attendance was Osama Saleh, Chairman of the General Authority for Investment (GAFI) and a number of officials from the Ministry of Investment.

Dr. Mohieldin has praised Sheikh Sultan Al-Qassimi for his efforts in supporting knowledge and educational programs and projects in Egypt. Mohieldin has also discussed ways to boost the joint investments and reviewed a number of projects in which Sharjah can invest, such as the development of Upper Egypt and the Northwest Gulf of Suez Economic Zone, infrastructure projects, as well as a number of investment opportunities in education, health, agriculture, and renewable energy.

On his part, Al-Mahmoud praised the positive developments witnessed by the Egyptian economy in recent years. UAE companies have a serious desire to closely study the available investment opportunities, especially considering the Sharjah region's support of investment in Egypt. Additionally, there are distinct investment opportunities in many sectors.

Dr. Mohieldin has stressed that a technical mission will visit Sharjah during the upcoming period in order to discuss the joint cooperation program and to draft a joint technical cooperation protocol between GAFI and the UAE. The mission also aims at communicating with UAE companies and investment institutions in the areas of development, investment and support for SMEs.
