Scope of Work: Qatar Aluminium Company, Mesaieed (QATALUM) and Mesaieed Power Corporation Limited (MPCL) are major gas consumers in Mesaieed Industrial City. At present, the gas to QATALUM and MPCL plants is supplied through a pipeline which was constructed under Consolidated Gas Supply Pipeline Project (CGSP). QATALUM have requested QP to install a backup pipeline to improve the reliability and availability of gas supply, as it is critical for their plant operation. Similarly, MPCL also requires an uninterrupted fuel gas supply to avoid any upset in their plant. To meet the above requirements, QP proposed to install an alternate 36" pipeline from Station 72-SBV-41J to station-SR-2 with spur line connections from 72-SBV-41 and Station-S. At station-SR2, the new pipeline shall be tied to the existing tie-in provided under CGSP Project. QATALUM have installed 600# rated gas receiving facilities from station-SR2 to their premises whereas, MPCL installed 300 # rated facilities. This necessitated installing a HIPPS system in station-SR2 under CGSP project to protect MPCL receiving facilities from over pressurisation. The single HIPPS available on MPCL supply line at present may be subjected to spurious trips and may result in interruption of gas supply to the plant. Therefore, QP intends to install a redundant HIPPS with necessary controls to improve the reliability and availability of gas supply to MPCL. |
