Scope | 1- The study to be executed by the consultant (“Services”) is to conduct X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) studies to determine implications of steam injection on the clay minerals and its potential effect on the unconsolidated sandstone reservoirs on the South Ratqa, Lower Fars Heavy Oil Field. The XRD and SEM studies revealed the presence of varieties of the detrital clay minerals (Illite, Smectite, Chlorite) and finely fibrous authigenic clay minerals i.e. polygorskite occurring commonly within the Lower Fars reservoir sands. 2- The consultant shall submit interim reports to the Superintendent of the contract on a monthly basis. Final report shall be submitted upon completion of the study along with the consultant’s findings and recommendation for acceptance by the Superintendent of the contract. 3- The consultant shall deliver the following deliverables. - The study must bring out the experimental effect of steam on the clay minerals of the Lower Fars reservoirs through Steam chamber/SEM/XRPD and suggest suitable measures to mitigate the problem. - Suggestion on additives to Water Based Mud system to mitigate this problem. - Three sets hard copies along with all attachments in colour & one set of digital report in .pdf format at the end of the study within two weeks of acceptance of draft report after incorporating the company comments for final acceptance. - A proposal, which must contain details of methodology, milestones with timelines (date for completion) and report and deliverables, consultant’s personnel, any subcontracting and cost elements. The detail work schedule of the study must be submitted using MS Project or the latest company-approved management reporting software. |
