The Minister of Investment, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, and Vice-President of the African Development Bank (ADB), Nkosana Moyo, have discussed a host of projects the Bank could be funding in Egypt.
“Egypt is interested in cooperating with the ADB to establish a number of projects in Egypt, such as a solid waste management project in Cairo and Alexandria," said Dr. Mohieldin. In this regard, the Ministry of Investment is coordinating with concerned bodies, namely the Ministries of Local Development, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs. Dr. Mohieldin highlighted the likelihood of cooperation with ADB in developing infrastructure at the North-West Suez Gulf Economic Zone (SEZONE), as well as establishing some proposed projects on the Upper Egypt-Red Sea Road, including renewable energy and industrial projects. The likelihood of cooperation in the non-banking financial services and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) exchange, was also highlighted by Minister Mohieldin. The meeting was attended by Mohamed Omran, Egyptian Exchange (EGX) vice chairman, and Nivin Ashafie, deputy head of the General Authority for Investment (GAFI). |
