Despite the significant leap achieved by Egypt's exports to the Romanian market which reached $ 87,7 million in 2010 compared to $ 55,6 million in 2009, Egypt's exports decreased in the first quarter of 2011 to reach $ 17,7 million compared to $18,1 million with a reduction rate of 2,2%.
This report has been prepared by the International Trade Point in order to monitor trade volume, exports and imports between the two countries on the occasion of the visit paid by the Romanian Foreign Minister to Egypt to review means of cooperation between both countries especially in the field of developing trade. The International Trade Point indicated that the decreased in Egypt's exports volume to the Romanian market was due to the political and economic events Egypt underwent. The figures of Foreign Trade unveiled that during the period between 2009 and 2010, trade volume was by $ 264,3 million in 2010 compared to $ 238,9 million in 2009 at a growth rate of 10,6%. Dr. Hussein Omran indicated that onion and allium porrum are regarded the most important exports which rose by 85% in the first quarter of 2011 to reach $ 3.2 m compared to $ 1,8 million in the same period of the last year. In addition, some Egyptian Commodities have entered into the Romanian market for the first time such as carbon, goods covers, steel cylinders, organic detergents and vegetable oils and preserved tomatoes. |
