As part of its efforts to encourage strong export performance among its members, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recognised four companies as an SME Exporter of the Month during a special ceremony at its head office. H.E. Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice Chairman, Dubai Chamber, presented the companies with a certificate outlining their achievements. The honoured companies are: Phoenix Gulf, 3M Gulf, General Motors Africa & Middle East, and Azimuth International General Trading.
Phoenix Gulf received the title for being the company with the highest export value in May, while 3M Gulf was honoured for being the company, which applied for the highest number of certificates of origin in June. General Motors Africa & Middle East received the recognition for being the company with the highest number of export markets in July and Azimuth International General Trading was honoured for being a new company, which attained the highest export value in August. His Excellency congratulated the companies and urged them to continue striving to enhance their commercial activities, which in turn contributes towards strengthening Dubai’s position one of the world’s largest export and re-export centres. Dr. Belaid Rettab, Senior Director, Economic Research and Sustainable Business Development Sector, Dubai Chamber, who also attended the ceremony said: “The SME Exporter of the Month is an important initiative for Dubai Chamber, which is part of our strategic objectives to support the development of business and create a favourable business environment. It is an incentive for companies to enhance their performance, which in turn helps drive the economy and the development of Dubai as a major international business hub. “We would like to congratulate all the companies who have been honoured today for their achievements so far and encourage them to continue to play their role in the development of Dubai,” Dr. Rettab added. Company representatives from welcomed the recognition and praised the initiative as a way of instilling healthy competition in Dubai’s export and re-export sector. Dubai Chamber launched SME Exporter of the Month in 2009, under the name SME Exporter of the Quarter, in order to recognise, support and encourage strong trade performance. The name was changed last year to make it a monthly event due to its popularity and success. Previous companies that have been recognised include Afegra Middle East, Lisec Middle East and Meka Emirates Trading. |
