Egypt on 7/12/2011 called for boosting the development partnership between the world's developed and developing countries to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). "Egypt stresses that the achievement of the MDGs by 2015 can only be realized through strengthening developmental partnership between developed and developing countries," Egypt's UN Ambassador Maged Abdel-Fattah told the fifth High-Dialogue on Financing for Development.
Egypt also stressed the importance of "cooperation among developing countries within the framework of South-South cooperation as well as strengthening the partnership between the public and the private sectors and civil society organizations," Abdel-Fattah said. Abdel-Fattah said that supporting the efforts of developing countries in this regard should be given a high priority on the national and international policy agenda in order to contribute to the mobilization of additional resources to support financing for development.
"The success of these national strategies to achieve the developmental objectives requires the availability of a favorable and conducive international environment," he said. He also stressed the importance of fulfilling commitment by developed countries to financing development programs, particularly by allocating 0.7% of their GDP for development financing.
