Egypt's total exports during the first eleven months of 2011 reached L.E. 118.7 billion, marking 20% increase above their level during the same period of 2010 put then at L.E. 99.4 billion. This was revealed in a report of the Foreign Trade Data Bank at the Ministry of Industry and Trade giving some details of the figure compared with earlier announced targets for each sector. Reports noted that furniture exports during the period reached L.E. 1.59 billion representing 79% of the target (L.E. 2 billion), while leather exports reached almost L.E. 1 billion representing 66% of the target (L.E. 1.5 billion).
Meanwhile, agricultural crops exports during the period reached L.E. 9.82 billion representing 77% of the target (L.E. 12.8 billion) while food industries exports reached L.E. 15.6 billion representing 105% of the target (L.E. 14.8 billion). On the other hand, ready made garments exports reached L.E. 8.39 billion representing 78% of target (L.E. 10.7 billion), while yarn and fabrics exports reached L.E. 4.8 billion representing 120% of target (L.E. 4 billion. Also, fixture exports reached L.E. 3.9 billion representing 118% of target (L.E. 3.3 billion). With regards to chemical industries exports, they reached L.E. 24.67 billion representing 84% of target (L.E. 29.5 billion,) while engineering industries exports reached L.E. 13.17 billion representing 73% of target(L.E. 18 billion) and construction materials exports reached L.E. 32 billion representing 110% of target(L.E. 29 billion). N.B. No mention was given to crude oil, gas and petrochemicals' exports or to minerals and precious metals exports.
