Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Al-Qorbi said here that his participation in the GCC Foreign Ministers meeting today was to brief them about the latest developments in Yemen following the signing of the GCC initiative. He told reporters following the meeting "what remains of the initiative is to prepare for the presidential elections next February". He added that the economic sector necessitates more cooperation between his country and the GCC, calling on the GCC states to extend materialistic and developmental support to his country especially in the coming period.
Regarding the situations in Yemen, Al-Qorbi said that the security situation is improving, pointing out that the country is now working to eliminate impact of the crisis and achieve economic growth for the coming period to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. He warned that the sectarian disputes which have nothing to do with the political crisis poses a grave danger on social tranquility in Yemen. Al-Qorbi joined earlier in the day the GCC foreign ministers meeting, which convened here ahead of the GCC summit.
