Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri held a meeting in Cairo on 25/12/2011 with Sudanese Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Seifeddin Hamad for talks on the latest developments in Nile Basin states. The meeting was attended by Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hisham Qandeel and Sudan's Ambassador to Egypt Kamal Hassan Ali.
The meeting took up the current situation in the Nile Basin countries through reviewing the outcome of a meeting held on Saturday between Egyptian and Sudanese delegations. Ganzouri made directives to Qandeel to offer technical and training support to the Sudanese hydraulics research institute. The two sides have also discussed ways to promote cooperation between the Egyptian and Sudanese ministries of water resources. Hamad said the two sides have reached a common vision that helps ending up differences of the past and opening a new chapter of cooperation between the two states. Meanwhile, the Sudanese Minister affirmed that Ethiopian dams that are planned to be constructed on the Blue Nile will bring welfare if such projects are carried out through coordination and cooperation between the three countries: Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia. |
