PM to Announce Formation of Sinai Development Agency

Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri held a meeting on 28/2/2012 at his office to follow up measures taken to achieve overall development in the Sinai Peninsula. The meeting took up the role of the Sinai development authority in setting up projects to achieve comprehensive development in the industry, tourism and agriculture fields and exploit mineral resources in Sinai. Following the ministerial meeting held and chaired by Prime Minister, Dr. Kamal al-Ganzouri, to pursue the Sinai development procedures, Dr. Abul-Naga said that Premier Ganzouri will soon visit Sinai accompanied by a number of visitors. The Premier will inspect on the spot the problems the Sinai residents suffer from, she said. Ganzouri will also listen to their problems and urge for a quick respond to such problems, she added.

Moreover, Premier Ganzouri will inspect the development projects that have already been implemented, said the Minister. Abul-Naga further affirmed that Premier Ganzouri has commissioned a number of ministers to adopt measures worthy of reinforcing the police presence in Sinai to maintain security, consolidate the varied development axes, and develop the essential infrastructure. A decree setting up a Sinai development authority will be issued during the next week as well as naming its chairman. The first duty of the new body will be establishing several development enterprises in the varied agricultural, industrial, mineral wealth and tourist fields, said Fayza Abul-Naga, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation.The new Sinai development authority will also set up service-rendering projects in the domains of housing, health and education, said Abul-Naga.
