Peruvian President Ollanta Humala received here H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, who conveyed the regards of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Peruvian President on his inauguration in the presidential office. For his part, Humala conveyed his regards and wishes to the UAE President and prosperity to the UAE. The two sides discussed during the meeting ways to bolster the relations between the two countries in all fields, especially in the economic and cultural areas. Sheikh Abdullah stressed the effective role of Peru in boosting the relations between the Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States and South America States, referring to the development being experienced by Peru that would open a number of investment opportunities.
Earlier Sheikh Abdullah met Peruvian Foreign Minister Rafael Roncagliolo. They discussed the bilateral relations. The UAE FM invited Roncaglilo to visit the UAE. The two meetings were attended by Sultan bin Sulayem, Board Chairman of Dubai World Ports, Mohammed Eisa Al Qattam Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Argentina and Non Resident Ambassador to Peru, Khalid Al Ghaith, Assistant Foreign Minister for the Economic Affairs and Abdulla Al Saboosi, Director of the Department of American and Pacific Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sheikh Abdullah is accompanied by a delegation, including representatives of UAE business sector to boost the UAE-Peruvian investment ties. Peru will host in September the Third Summit of Heads of State and Government of South America- Arab Countries (ASPA)
