In his statement, Irrigation Minister Hisham Qandeel said on April, 25 2012 that the government has adopt the initiatives to cooperation with Nile Basin countries widely during the coming period. He said that the government tackles as well the future of relations between the Nile Basin countries within the framework of the Nile Basin initiative and means to boost the cooperation projects between the Nile Basin countries.
For his part, the General Coordinator of the Nile Basin in the Foreign Ministry Yasser Sorour said Ethiopia’s Renaissance Dam costs $4.78 million affirming that the Italian government has not provided money to fund the project officially until the moment. He affirmed that the Italian government, which is carrying out the project has nothing to do with the Italian government. He also noted that the Ethiopian officials have announced that the project will be self-funded.
