Bilateral foreign trade volume between Egypt and Vietnam during 2011 was put at $ 300 million. This was reported in the media quoting Ambassador Mohamed Hegazy, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs indicating that political relations with Vietnam backdates to the sixties of the last century. The official was addressing a farewell party held by Egypt on the occasion of the expiry of the Vietnamese Ambassador's mission to Egypt.
