Egypt and Portugal on 6/6/2012 held talks on means of boosting bilateral relations. Within this framework, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Fazya Abul-Naga held talks with Portuguese Ambassador in Cairo Antonio Tanger on means of promoting cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, tourism, electricity, agriculture and education.
The two sides also discussed holding the first session of the joint committee for economic and industrial cooperation in line with an agreement on this score signed in 1993. On the other hand, Abul Naga signed an agreement whereby the Saudi Fund for Development will extend to Egypt 50 million dollars to finance a power generation plant in the Delta city of Banha.
