Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Osama Saleh has met with representatives from a number of major US companies operating in Egypt and members of the US-Egypt Business Council as part of his current visit to the US capital Washington. During the meetings, Chrysler Group LLC and General Motors stressed that they intend to boost their investments in Egypt in the coming months. The two companies said they are very interested in doing more successful business in Egypt.
Saleh, for his part, reviewed the latest economic developments in Egypt and the country's current presidential election. The Egyptian official asserted to the US companies Egypt's full commitment to protecting foreign investments in the country and fostering cooperation with the private sector. Saleh noted there has been an increase in economic growth rates in Egypt in the sectors of construction, building, industry and tourism.
