With 3 million tons, Egypt now ranks 4th world wide in terms of salt exports. This was reported in the media quoting Mr. Abdel Latif Al Kordi, Managing Director of EMISAL, assuring that Egypt embarks on huge salt reserves and could raise its annual salt production up to 20 million tons and even more. He noted that salt ponds are renewable and that raw salt is demanded by almost 600 industries. He stressed the need for a legislative and an administrative reform to enhance the industry and generate revenues.
