Egypt: Study to Develop Spinning and Weaving Industry

Industry and Foreign Trade Minister Dr. Mahmoud Eissa said the ministry has completed a study to resolve the most important problems facing the spinning and weaving industry in Egypt to raise its competitiveness. He added that mechanisms for carrying out this strategy will be set during the coming stage. Eissa said the study stressed the need for coordination between the agriculture and industry ministries to make the requirements of the industrial sector available which include growing short and medium staple cotton while continuing to grow long staple cotton, so as the agriculture policy would go in line with the needs of society and that the surplus would be exported.
