US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns, in a phone conversation with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, has expressed deep regret over the shooting of a fishing boat by a US Navy ship USNS Rappahannock near Jebel Ali, Dubai, killing a fisherman and injuring three others.
In the phone call, US Deputy Secretary of State noted that investigations into the causes of the incident are underway. He stressed that relations between the UAE and the US are strong. For his part, Gargash noted that there was agreement on the need to know the causes of the incident as well as for transparent cooperation between the two countries. He further stressed that relations between the UAE and the US are strong. |
