Al Maktoum Foundation Passes AED 90 mn Budget for 2012-2013

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, and patron of the Al Maktoum Foundation, has approved the Foundation's budget of AED 90 million for 2012-2013. Sheikh Hamdan also ordered immediate distribution of annual assistance including zakat al fitr (a charity given to the poor at the end of the fasting in the Islamic holy month of Ramadan) and iftar (breakfast) banquet programme within the UAE and abroad which worth AED 20 million. Mohammed Al Ghanam, Secretary General of the Foundation, said the iftar banquet programme was being held at the Foundation sponsored Islamic Centres in Ireland and Rotterdam, and Al Maktoum College of Higher Education in Dundee, Scotland. The banquets were offered to 23 schools in 23 African countries at a total cost of AED 450,000.
