Minister of Industry & Foreign Trade Hatem Saleh held a meeting with a delegation of Turkish businessmen in the presence of Turkish ambassador in Cairo Huseyin Avni Botsali to discuss ways to solve problems facing Turkish investors. The 13-businessman delegation submitted a memo to the minister on the most important obstacles hindering Turkish investments in Egypt, including lawlessness, workers' strikes and the increase in energy prices, particularly the 6th of October city, where 12 Turkish plants are operating in the fields of ready-made garments and textiles. Meanwhile, the Turkish businessmen proposed the establishment of a cement plant in Sinai to exploit the raw materials of al-Maghara coal and also asked for a plot of land to set up a petrochemicals factory.
Head of the Egyptian side at the Egyptian-Turkish Business Council Adel el-Lamaee asserted Monday promising opportunities existed for boosting Egyptian-Turkish relations. Lamaee said that Egypt called for fostering the bilateral relationship in the agriculture field. He pointed out there were several agriculture projects that Turkish companies could invest in like the recycling agriculture waste project which provides a sustainable source for energy. He also urged Turkey to lift the ban over the Egyptian exports of legumes like the EU did before.
