The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) incurred losses at the close of trading on 13/1/2012 amid sales by Arab and foreign investment institutions. The bourse's market capital lost EGP 2.2 bn to stand at EGP 9.583 bn. The EGX 30 benchmark index ratcheted down 0.92 percent to stand at 5701, 49 points. The broader EGX 70 index of the leading smaller and mid cap enterprises (SME) also dropped by 1.79 per cent, reaching 486.99 points.
