Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ashraf el-Arabi said on 21/02/2013 that Egypt and Netherlands are bound by friendly ties for over 30 years. Thanks to their long-standing relations, Egypt and Netherlands reached financial and technical cooperation agreements through which Egypt received development aid worth about 348.607 million euros, including soft loans and non-refundable grants, el-Arabi said during a meeting with Dutch ambassador in Cairo Gerard Steeghs.
"This aid contributed to financing development projects in agriculture, irrigation, industry, health, construction, transport, electricity, supply, education and activities to empower women in Egypt," el-Arabi added. He asserted the necessity to encourage investments in Egypt and lure Dutch investors to the country.
