A sum of LE 400 million has been allocated to support agriculture research development projects in the current year, Agriculture Minister Ayman Abu-Hadid said on 18/2/2014.
He stressed the importance of drawing up urgent plans to back all kinds of agriculture development ventures in the coming period and to particularly concentrate on their national perspective, especially when it comes to applied technology transfer and research work aiming at serving the country's 2030 agricultural strategy. His remarks came during his presiding over a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the national project for agriculture development to discuss agriculture development programs, agro-financing, applied research projects in the agriculture domain, awareness campaigns and comprehensive agricultural and agro-industrial revival. Also, among the projects discussed were the projects connected with the use of sustainable natural resources, remote sensing and geographical information systems and new and renewable energy in the agriculture sector, especially in small farms. Programs to develop the horticultural sector, plant disease-resistant crops and increase productivity were also reviewed. |
