Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab held a ministerial meeting to discuss the heavy file of Egypt's disputes with investors and ways of settling them amicably instead of resorting to international arbitration.
The meeting was held with the ministers of justice, transitional justice, investment, and international cooperation, as well as representatives for the State Litigation Authority. A statement by the Cabinet said that the government wants to send a message that Egypt is encouraging investment and create a healthy business climate and is ready to settle all disputes with serious investors in a way that preserves the rights of both the State and the investors themselves. The premier instructed the formation of a ministerial committee involving all those present at the meeting to handle all complaints or lawsuits filed by investors against Egypt with international arbitration tribunals or with the Egyptian courts to resolve them in accordance with the provisions of the law. |
