President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi convened on 21/7/2014 with Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and the ministers of defense and military production, interior, planning, local development, petroleum, housing, electricity, water resources, antiquities and transport.
The meeting reviewed a plan for the construction of new roads to be added to the existing road network, which already has a length of about 24,000 km, in addition to the renovation and expansion of some existing roads, presidential Spokesman Ehab Badawy said. The plan will be implemented in two phases, he added. The first phase is scheduled to be completed in 12 months to add 3,181 km, while the second will begin immediately upon completing the first one and will also take 12 months to add 1,470 km. During the meeting, the president confirmed the importance of implementing the plan according to international standards at the highest quality and lowest cost as soon as possible. The Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, the Chief of Staff of the Engineering Authority, the Adviser of the Defense Ministry for Projects, the Head of the Military Engineers Department, the Chairman of the General Authority for Roads, Bridges and Land Transport, the Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction and the President of the Egyptian General Survey Authority attended the meeting. |
