The Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce is preparing for the 16th Conference of Arab Investors on November 23rd and 24th, 2014, according to Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) head Ahmed El-Wakil.
Hundreds of Arab businessmen, investors and economic leaders will take part in the conference, which is being dubbed "Investment in Egypt: Invest in the Future". El-Wakil said that the conference will discuss investment opportunities in the Arab region, especially in Egypt during the coming period, including the Suez Canal Axis project. "Promotion in the conference will be for all of the Suez Canal project components, including the promotion of investment in airports, ports and specialized areas of logistics, in addition to 5,160 acres of industrial zones, technological university, 77,000 acres of fish farms, four million acres for agriculture as well as tourist and recreational areas and commercial and infrastructure required for the project such as electricity, water and roads stations," he added. The conference also reviewed the untapped areas of investment and trade between Arab countries, identified the sectors needing priority attention, and proposed mechanisms to further cooperation and remove obstacles between those countries, according the General Union of Arab Chambers the GUAC. The conference is organized by GUAC, the League of Arab States, the Arab Investment Guarantee and FEDCOC. On the other hand, there is dispute in the government over the date of the Egypt's economic summit, which was scheduled to be held on February 21st and 22nd, 2015, according to an official source. "Some see that the conference should be postponed till March 2015 since th current date will fall during religious ceremonies in a large number of East Asian countries, whom the government is counting on to implement giant investments in Suez Canal project," the source said. "Others believe that the conference's postponement after announcing the date officially represents a threat to the credibility of the government." |
