Masdar today announced the official launch of its enhanced green building materials website, the Future Build, enabling the listed suppliers to market their products as Future Build certified products.
The website which was initially launched in 2011 is the first of its kind in the region, bringing together the largest database of independently assessed green building products and materials. The Future Build has been the primary source and online directory for green building materials used by the developers and contractors behind world renowned Masdar City. The database endeavors to make sustainable building products accessible to the Middle East by connecting suppliers with architects, engineers and contractors on a unique business-to-business portal. The upgraded portal is being showcased at Big 5, the Middle East’s largest construction industry event, taking place in Dubai from November 17-20. New suppliers who sign up for the subscription-based supply chain management tool during the exhibition will benefit from a discounted annual fee. Dr. Nawal Al-Hosany, Director of Sustainability at Masdar, said, "For architects, contractors and building suppliers working in the sustainable construction sector, the Future Build solves a very practical problem. It provides anywhere, anytime, online access to the most comprehensive and credible database of local suppliers of green building products and services. "The Future Build is yet another initiative by the UAE to encourage sustainability across the region. It bridges the gap between the supply chain and developers, promoting the use of eco-friendly materials. In this way we can help to accelerate the deployment of more sustainable urban development." Steve Smith, Environmental and Sustainability Manager at Brookfield Multiplex remarked: "The vast amount of technical information provided on the Future Build Website has assisted Brookfield Multiplex with rapidly identifying materials that adhere to a project's sustainability requirements. This easy-to-use database promotes the procurement of materials manufactured sustainably and will only further enhance sustainable construction practices in the Middle East region." Peter Robinson, Marketing Manager at Gyproc Saint-Gobain said: "The Future Build portal gives us a single point of contact with customers engaged in sustainable construction where we can share Gyproc’s sustainable drylining systems and solutions all with the added benefit of being a local manufacturer." The redesigned Future Build portal maintains its successful product evaluation process using a 15 point sustainability assessment methodology developed by Masdar. |
