President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has stressed Egypt's support for the Somali government to achieve its people's aspirations.
Sisi's made the pledge during his plenary talks with his Somali counterpart Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud and his accompanying delegation at the presidential palace on Monday 29/12/2014. Presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said the President hailed the historical and close relations between the two countries. Sisi stressed the necessity of boosting bilateral ties in all fields. He reaffirmed Egypt's participation in the regional and international efforts aiming at achieving a political settlement in Somalia. Sisi also referred to Egypt's humanitarian support during the crises period in Somalia, highlighting Cairo's commitment to backing the stability and integrity of Somalia. He also asserted Egypt's keenness to back the efforts of human development in Somalia and training programs to the Somali government staff. For his part, the Somali President thanked Sisi, stressing the deeply-rooted and historical relations binding the two counties. He voiced appreciation for Egypt's continuous support for his country, noting the distinguished status Egypt has at the hearts of the Somali people. He said he was looking forward to Egypt's continuing backing of Somalia, especially in the rebuilding phase. The Somali President hailed aid Egypt provided to Somalia during the past years in the educational field, lauding the Egyptian teachers and the important role of Al-Azhar institutes in his country. He stressed the role of Al-Azhar in fighting terrorist and extremist thoughts Somalia was witnessing during the last years. |
