Russia has said strengthening the external pressure on the political parties in Yemen as well as imposing sanctions on the country would lead to negative results.
It declared in a statement issued Friday by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it would support steps aiming to reach a settlement for the crisis in Yemen under the sponsorship of the United Nations' special envoy to Yemen, Jamal Benomar. Getting out of the political crisis in Yemen is still far away, the statement highlighted, adding the situation worsened after the "Ansar Allah" elements' takeover of the government facilities and the resignation of President Abdo Rabu Mansour Hadi and Prime Minister Khaled Bahah, as well as the dissolution of Parliament. The statement also called all the Yemeni parties to exercise restraint and refrain from any actions that would lead to the deterioration of the situation in the country, and to start a comprehensive dialogue on the most important Yemeni internal issues. The Russian embassy in Sana'a has taken the necessary measures to protect the safety of its employees, confirming the Russian embassy in Sana'a has no intention to close its doors, in the light of the closure of some foreign embassies in Sana'a. |
