The ministerial economic committee held a meeting on 3/8/2015 under Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and in the presence of the ministers of planning, petroleum, supply, electricity, finance, international cooperation, antiquities, transport and investment.
During the meeting, the transport minister reviewed efforts exerted by the ministry as part of upgrading the underground Metro, which is considered one of the most important means of transportation, said Cabinet Spokesman Hossam Qawish. The service has been improved through developing Metro stations' escalators, stairs and elevators, the minister said. An agreement was reached to supply 20 air-conditioned trains for the first line, he added. Meanwhile, the antiquities minister reviewed the necessary means for securing antiquities. The meeting also tackled a report submitted by the electricity minister regarding the current electricity production rates along with consumption rates during rush hours. The minister also said that the necessary needs of fuel, liquefied gas were provided to operate electricity stations. |
