Kuwait's crude oil exports to Japan in November hit a six-month high of 9.03 million barrels, or 326,000 barrels per day (bpd), surging 53.1 percent from a year earlier, government data showed.
The figure was the highest since May, when its crude oil shipments to Japan recorded 10.89 million barrels (351,000 bpd), according to a preliminary report released from the Japanese Natural Resources and Energy Agency. Kuwait was Japan's third-biggest oil provider last month, supplying 9.2 percent of the Asian nation's total crude imports, also marked the biggest share since May's 10.6 percent stake. Japan's overall imports of crude oil grew 6.0 percent year-on-year to 3.26 million bpd for the first rise in three months. Shipments from the Middle East accounted for 82.1 percent of the total, up 2.2 percentage points from the year before. Saudi Arabia remained Japan's No.1 oil supplier, with imports from the kingdom jumping 25.0 percent from a year earlier to 1.19 million bpd, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 700,000 bpd, down 14.2 percent. Russia ranked fourth with 270,000 bpd and Qatar fifth with 224,000 bpd, respectively. Japan, which imports virtually all its fossil fuels, is the world's-third biggest oil consumer after the US and China. |
