Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas) signed on Wednesday an agreement with the Japanese engineering corporation, JGC Group, to build a third gas plant at a cost of USD 355 million.
Minister of Energy Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza said in a press release that the deal covers all required engineering works, procurement and construction issues. The project is part of the Kingdom strategic ventures, carried out by the National Oil and Gas Authority (Noga) "for sake of securing continuing economic development and elevating level of citizens' living standards," he said, adding that it also "depicts the leading role of the oil and gas sectors in the economic development of Bahrain." The project, to be executed in 32 months, aims to accommodate 350 million cubic feet of gas, captured from extracted crude oil. It will store the gas, extracted at Bahrain oil field, distill liquefied petroleum gas and petroleum naphtha and re-inject excessive gas output into the field. |
