A loan agreement worth KD 3.4 million (USD 12 million) was signed in Ho Chi Minh City between the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and Vietnam.
The loan will be used in financing the supply of medical equipment for Chau Doc Regional General Hospital Project in Vietnam, the KFAED said in a press release. The loan agreement was signed by Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Finance Truong Chi Trung and KFAED Deputy Director-General Hesham Al-Waqayan. The project aims to enhance the development of the health sector of An Giang Province and other surrounding areas by meeting increasing demand for healthcare services, improving its quality, efficiency and healthcare coverage in Chau Doc City. The project will provide adequate infrastructure and technical facilities, and meet the needs for modern medical equipment and specialized diagnostic and therapeutic care services, with the aim of providing better quality medical services, it said. The project comprises the construction of annex building in Chau Doc provincial hospital at its existing site. The hospital will be upgraded from 400-bed to 500-bed provincial general hospital, it noted. The project also includes the supply and installation of medical and auxiliary equipment for 500 bed, training of specialized doctors and technical staff as part of the supplier's contracts, administrations of medical equipment procurement, institutional support for PIU, and the consultancy services for the preparation of detailed technical specification of equipment, project management, and supervision of installation, it added. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year 2018, said the release, noting that it is the 13th loan by the KFAED to Vietnam. |
