Sherif Ismail Inaugurate Conference of Sustainable Development 2030

PM Sherif Ismail attended the proceedings of the opening session of the Ministerial Conference on the implementation of the development agenda of sustainable development 2030 in the Arab States - the social dimensions, which is held under the auspices of President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi, during the period between 6 – 7 April, organized jointly by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the League of Arab States, UNDP, the United Nations, with the participation of a large number of Arab ministers and members of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States, a number of representatives of specialized Arab organizations, funding institutions, representatives of the specialized agencies of the United Nations and the members of the United Nations Development Group. A large number of those concerned with the social dimensions of the issues of sustainable development.

The conference aims to develop an action plan for the Arab countries on the implementation of the social dimensions of the agenda of sustainable development by 2030 and to support the efforts of the Arab states to achieve the objectives of the agenda, in coordination with the specialized agencies of the United Nations, the private sector and Arab organizations and specialized agencies. In this framework, it is scheduled to be issued by this Conference for the Cairo Declaration on the implementation of the development agenda of sustainable development 2030 in Arab states 'Social dimensions'.

It is worth mentioning that there will be holding a number of meetings of the work on the conference. Today there was 4 meetings held, the first entitled development planning in order to achieve sustainable development aimed at assessing the experiences of arab countries on development planning and will submit a working paper on 'Development Planning for Arab countries: Reality and future prospects' and the strategy of sustainable development (Egypt 2030), the second session is entitled to support the eradication of poverty and the achievement of equality between people. The third meeting was entitled the empowerment of youth as essential for the achievement of the objectives of sustainable development and will discuss the priorities of the Arab region population indicators for 2030 methods of managing population policies, and topics related to expatriates and migration. Finally, the fourth meeting was entitled in the coordination of the implementation of sustainable development goals, where you will be served a working paper on 'Policies and institutional frameworks conducive to the implementation of the objectives of sustainable development to discuss the role of civil society as a partner for the implementation of the development agenda of sustainable development 2016-2026.

The fifth meeting was under the title of information and data and mechanisms for follow-up to the implementation and monitoring of sustainable development objectives, which introduced a working paper on the information and data required for planning and follow-up and evaluation. A working paper on the challenges of follow-up and evaluation of sustainable development policies' and then a working paper on the national and regional mechanisms to monitor and follow up the implementation and accountability in the Arab region.

The sixth meeting is under the title of financing of sustainable development in the Arab region with a view to clarifying the funding requirements of the plan of 2030, identify the pilot experiences in this area and testify the presentation of a paper on the possibilities of financing the implementation of the 2030 plan of action for the Sustainable Development of the countries of the Arab region.

The closing meeting is scheduled to witness the efforts of the United Nations system support to the League of Arab States and its member States in the implementation of the sustainable development objectives of 2030 in the Arab States, and the Cairo Declaration of the implementation of sustainable development goals by 2030 in the Arab states 'Social dimensions'.
