The President of Russia Vladimir Putin discussed with visiting King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain recent situation developments in the Middle East and North Africa, official media reported.
The two sides addressed the situations in Syria and international anti-terrorism efforts, stressing the importance of achieving settlement in Syria through political and diplomatic means in accordance with the 2012 Geneva Communique, according to Interfax news agency. Putin and the King of Bahrain also discussed key issues of Russian-Bahraini cooperation, the implementation of the agreements that were signed at their last February meeting in Sochi, and guidelines for the joint efforts to build up interaction in a number of areas. For his part, King Hamad expressed his joy toward the number of Russian-made military models he saw during his visit to the International Military-Technical Forum "ARMY-2016" in Moscow earlier, expressing his country's desire to enhance its military cooperation with Russia. Meanwhile, the two leaders signed a number of bilateral deals after their meeting, including a military cooperation agreement and an MoU between Russian Gazprom Company and the Bahraini National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), in addition to forming a joint state committee for cooperation in economic, commercial, and labor fields. |
