 International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr discussed in a meeting with Permanent Representative of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Cairo Laila al Moqaddem the development of slums in Egypt.
During the meeting, they touched on measures related to the second batch of an AfDB program to support the government’s economic and development program at a value of $500 million. Also, the Egyptian minister asserted that the development of shanty areas will contribute to enhancing living conditions of the poor through providing healthy residential areas equipped with strong infrastructure and cultural places. The government gives high priority to slums development during the coming period, Nasr stressed. Meanwhile, the AfDB official underlined that the bank is keen to bolster the government’s plan to develop shanty areas. |
