Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Intel Corporation Middle East, to enhance cooperation, develop new initiatives, and enhance the happiness of stakeholders though the adoption and development of the latest technologies and business models. These include the Internet of Things, IoT, cloud computing, data centres, big data, artificial intelligence, and others.
The MoU will set a framework to develop IT and water and electricity services, in addition to developing prototypes and Software Development Kits, SDKs, for field applications, while benefiting from advanced robotics and mixed virtual reality technology. The MoU also enables both parties to explore Intel’s capabilities with regard to big data, analytics, and data governance, to launch efficient initiatives. Under the terms of the MoU, Intel will develop technical field applications at DEWA, and use the latest technology to improve work efficiency, big data management, architecture, analytics and interactive visualisation, cyber-security, threat intelligence and response, advanced mobile communication and control solutions, data centres and cloud computing, and many others. The MoU was signed by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, and Taha Khalifa, Regional General Manager of Intel, MENA region. Al Tayer expressed his happiness at signing the agreement, noting the importance of co-operation, to benefit from the latest techniques and provide customers with innovative, smart, quick, smooth, and integrated services, 24-hours-a-day. "DEWA supports the Smart Dubai initiative launched by Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The initiative contributes to achieving a significant improvement to the services provided to customers, and transforming Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world. The initiative enables the management of the city’s utilities and services using smart and connected services." said Al Tayer. Taha Khalifa hailed DEWA’s efforts to transform Dubai into a future smart city, which, he said, makes people happy, makes their lives easier, and improves living standards, in addition to improving resource-use efficiency and streamlining and integrating services. |
