Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry hosted a banquet for more than 20 Lebanese investors who were either investing their money in Egypt or willing to do so, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
The banquet was held at the residence of Egyptian Ambassador in Beirut Nazieh el Nagari before Shoukry returned home at the end of a brief visit to Lebanon during which he handed Lebanese President Michel Aoun a message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Shoukry chatted with the Lebanese investors over the latest economic decisions taken by the Egyptian government to put into effect its economic reform plan. The investors operating in industrial, energy, communications and infrastructure domains were upbeat over the investment climate in Egypt following these important decisions, the spokesman said. The Egyptian government has lately adopted many economic decisions, including floating the Egyptian pound to boost national economy. The investors lauded the current transparency of the Egyptian economy and the cost competitiveness of the Egyptian workforce compared to laborers in East Europe, Africa and Latin America. The Egyptian Embassy in Beirut and its affiliated trade office were keen to explain to the investors measures to be taken in order to pump their money into the Egyptian market. They also answered back many of their queries over the latest economic steps in Egypt. |
